My Report on The Evolution of This Blog

To My Readers:
I started this blog In October 2010, partially as a way to share my stories, part to learn a bit about blogging and the internet. This has become an amazingly gratifying experience for me, and it's all thanks to you - my readers.

This blog is now accessed more than two thousand times each month, by readers from 17 countries, from Australia and Japan to India, Finland and North America. To be honest, I do not exactly know how the readership has spread: I have notified friends and some acquaintances about this blog, but the subscription list (at the top right-hand corner of the blog) now comprises many people I do not know. A good portion of visits comes from search engines, and I've even been able to make some pocket money as readers have clicked on either the Google or Amazon links!

In addition, I have been getting emails from readers asking for advice on planning their trips to the Arctic or Antarctica, and even a couple of inquiries from outdoors magazines on whether I would be interested to write article for them about my experiences! I am now working on these and perhaps one day I'll see my name in one of them - And not on the mailing sticker! :-)

I plan to post on occasion interviews with tour guides I have met, and am also considering writing reviews of photography and outdoors equipment I have used, as well as tour companies specializing in these remote region.

Writing this blog has been a lot of fun for me. I have so many stories to share and so many nice pictures to show, that this blog has been a great way to address the curiosity that so many people have about the Arctic and Antarctica. These regions seem so remote, so unreachable, and I am happy to help you get a bit closer.

I want to ask each of you to keep spreading the word: please share my blog with friends and colleagues (through Facebook, LinkedIn, and other means), and help me increase my readership. It is both very gratifying to see it grow, and it also helps me better understand the blogging phenomena...

Have a wonderful 2012 and come back here to read more!
